Welcome to our website! We hope you will enjoy your visit and come back often. Please look around our website which features many fine products and services.

Shameless Plugs and Humble Opinions

While we have your attention, allow us to tell you about a few items and events that you might find very interesting. It may sound like shameless plugs for more stuff but check them out. You may be pleasantly surprised to find out that you agree with some of our recommendations and/or opinions.

Furyu and Bugeisha are two smaller magazines devoted to the traditional martial arts of Japan/Okinawa. Take the time to look them over... we are sure you will like them and want to subscribe to them. Support the traditional arts by supporting fine magazines like these.

If you are a dojo owner and want to learn more about the business end of school management, take a look at IMAMS. This company caters to the needs of the traditional martial arts school and has helped many, many folks out there to make a decent living teaching the arts that we all love.

Upcoming events of interest:

20th Annual Traditional Karate Tournament International - Ozawa Memorial

If you've got the time, and can make it to Las Vegas over Easter weekend, come visit with us at this historic international event. DOSHIN is once again a proud sponser of this event and will be presenting an expanded line of the "BEST OF THE BEST" in martial arts videos -- CHAMP. After extensive negotiations with the top management of CHAMP Co. LTD. (Tokyo, Japan), DOSHIN is pleased to be able to offer these video tapes at more affordable prices.

CHAMP videos are generally acknowledged to be among the best on the martial arts. Top management at CHAMP wear karate gi (taking the negotations to the dojo floor and seeing whose kumite was better did concern us for a while!). They take pride in making videos that are valuable tools.

These video are produced on broadcast quality equipment by video professionals. Their subjects are the hotest names and events in the martial arts. Check it out on the CHAMP Video page or come visit with us at the 20th Annual Traditional Karate Tournament International. Las Vegas Shotokan and Chief Instructor James Tawatao, along with Mrs. Magaly Ozawa, have always been wonderful hosts!

We put up a web page devoted to Christophe Pinna. Who is Christophe Pinna? Pinna is a member of the French National Karate Team who has delighted thousands with his arsenal of spinning & jump kicks. In our humble opinion, Pinna and his team-mates are a part of the reason Karate is so big in France. "How Big?" you ask? Special team matches (France vs. Japan, France vs. Russia vs. USA) can attract over 3000 spectators along with regular television coverage by cable channel, Eurosport. When was the last time you saw a traditional karate tournament in the United States attract that kind of a live audience... or media coverage?

In addition to being world class competitors, the French team can put on an awesome display of spectacular techniques... the kind of techniques that make people sit up and take notice.

We have been watching a lot of videos from Europe of late and are amazed at the popularity of the arts over there. There is regular TV coverage of traditional martial arts events (European Championships, WKF tournaments, etc.) on a cable channel called Eurosport. We don't know what those folks are doing, but they seemed to have stirred up quite a loy of interest in the arts.

DOSHIN recently assisted in arranging a seminar tour for Christope Pinna through the United States. I'm positive that the American Karateka, who were fortunate enough to participate, would tell you that we must strive to match the skill and dedication of martial artists like Christope Pinna if America is to bring home "GOLD"!

We'd love to hear from you. So, jump on over to the feedback form and drop us a few lines.

Steven Heyl
